The Spring Social of the Farmington NH Historical Society was a success! We were almost able to fill up the second floor of the Goodwin Library. There were lots of appetizers and hand food for the potluck. We did conduct a meeting after the social as we had a quorum of members.
I created a presentation for the event and, as the Curator of the Museum of Farmington NH History, spoke about our many recent acquisitions & staples of the collection not covered in the last presentation, and the archiving work that has been going on to update both our physical space and online museum. The presentation lasted about an hour and a half, with questions. I tried to focus on women in Farmington, NH as the event was held just after Women’s History Month.
Highlights covered were:
- Honoring members Norma Park, Dottie Bean, and Rebecca Howard
- Farmington NH ceramics
- Schuller Museum brochure
- Furbush donations
- Thayer family donations
- Farmington NH photographers
- Martha Safford and her family
- Recently scanned yearbooks
- Lucy Dodge and some of the Edgerly family
- Our Annie Thayer pewter collection
- The Farmington NH Woman’s Club
- Ned Parker donations
- Farmington NH Workers
- Farmington NH postcards
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone in the community that helped to make this a success and we hope everyone enjoyed the food, socializing, sharing, and the history presentation.
